Acromix Labyrinth Mixer Shaft Seal
Acromix Horizontal Shaft mixers contain the best main shaft seal available in the industry today.
The seal consists of three parts:
A mechanical labyrinth is produced by a grooved ring (1) affixed to the shaft, and replaceable hard plates (2) bolted to the mixer end wall liners (4). The close tolerance and convoluted path restrict flow of materials.
A grease filled void (5) outside the labyrinth. The grease in this area traps and contains any materials that find a way through the labyrinth.
A rubber lip-seal (6) is primarily in place to contain the grease in the void area but also, further restricts the flow of material from within the mixing chamber.
The open area located between the lip seal and the main shaft bearing (7) provides even further protection. The open area allows room for any foreign material allowed through the shaft seal to drop away before reaching the bearing.
